“What’s rare is to come upon an artist with as much talent and taste as Christina Crerar…”
(Samuel Chell, AllAboutJazz.com).

Breezy, bright and deserving of wider recognition, Christina Crerar certainly knows the tradition but is more than willing to inject her own spirit and inspiration into the familiar as well as rarely heard gems.  While she is steeped in the rhythms, melodies and lyrics of the 1920s – 1950s, Crerar is not about to neglect modern tunes that sing true to her.

As a vocalist, Christina Crerar’s resume brims with versatility – she blends influences from her performances with jazz groups of all sizes and traditions, musical theatre, contemporary opera, pop and cabaret into her unique sound, creating a presence that seems magically familiar but unquestionably her own. She has toured the US, Far East and Netherlands, performed at countless major venues in the Washington DC area including the Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Mandarin Oriental, Strathmore, Carlyle Club, Glen Echo Spanish Ballroom, BlackRock Center for the Arts (and many, many more) and recently headlined as the opening act for the Bob Newhart Show.

Scott Yanow included Christina in his recent, outstanding survey "of the great vocalists who have sung jazz". The Jazz Singers: The Ultimate Guide" is available at Amazon.com.

Christina has received acclaim for her first jazz vocal CD entitled "Little Jazz Bird". The disc is a collection of updated standards and lesser-known gems. Currently being played on radio stations all over the US and abroad, "Little Jazz Bird" has sold world-wide including Japan, Spain, England, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal, Germany and more. Supported by top-notch instrumentalists and inventive arrangements, Christina is a singer you don't want to miss.

In addition to performing, Christina is a private voice teacher/vocal coach with a Bachelor of Music from Catholic University, Washington DC and certification in Somatic Voicework from Shenandoah University plus ongoing independent study in the subject of voice science and practice of bodywork methods. She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association (AEA) and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

She taught several years on the faculty of the Levine School of Music as a jazz/contemporary vocal instructor, and taught singers and instrumentalists ages 11-17 to sing at Levine's School of Rock summer camp. She has taught for inDepth Jazz clinics, and in 2008 she joined the faculty of Maryland Summer Jazz for the first jazz 'camp' for vocalists in the Washington DC area.

As music director/director/choreographer, Christina has worked on programs for numerous shows and classes for ages elementary to high school. She has arranged/conducted/directed choral performances, including a gala choral performance starring operatic tenor, Carl Tanner (Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Paris Opera).

She enjoys consulting for a variety of local projects including the 7 Sopranos and Virginia Music Adventures. She is also the director of the Vocal Performance Workshop, a 5-week intensive workshop geared towards polishing performance skills in a fast-paced, high-energy group setting.

Ms. Crerar is currently available for master classes, group classes and is accepting private students of all ages and levels.
